TYPES OF MODELING

In Nigeria, the word 'MODEL' has been mis-used in most cases, I have also noticed that Most 'SO CALLED' models do not know the genre which they fall in when it comes to modeling. In this write up, we shall be taking a look at the types of modeling we have, this will enable models know their Genre...
Interestingly, some models can fall in two categories or even more, that shows how versatile they are. Most people think once you are not tall as a lady, or you don't build as a guy, you are not fit to be a model, don't be decieved, there are Petite Models... Read Further....

FASHION MODEL: This category is the most exclusive and most difficult of all categories for a model to get into, much less succeed in. As a whole, a fashion model MUST be tall, young, and thin. In addition, there are fashion model “size requirements”, and hardly any exceptions made in terms of that. While there is no universally-agreed upon, OFFICIAL “fashion-industry size-standard”, the size requirements in fashion modeling are TYPICALLY as follows:

Female Fashion Models:
Model Height Requirement: 5’9” to 6”.
Model Measurement Requirement: 34-24-34. (There are exceptions within one inch, and MAYBE two, of this standard. Anything beyond that is extremely unlikely to be considered.)
Model Age Requirement: 16-21 years old.
Model Size Requirement: 0-4.
Model Weight Requirement: 105-130 lbs, directly proportional to height
Male Fashion Models
Model Height Requirement: 5’11” to 6’2”.
Model Weight Requirement: 140-165 lbs, directly proportional to height.
Model Measurement Requirement: Waist between 29” and 32”. Shirt size between 15-15 ½ neck, sleeve size between 32 and 34. Jacket size between 40 and 42.
Model Age Requirement: 18-25 years old.
EDITORIAL FASHION MODEL: These models are the ones you find in the editorial spreads of pages like Elle, Vogue, Glamour, etc. You MUST fit the modeling requirements for a “Fashion Model” (listed above) in order to be considered for this category. Almost all editorial fashion agencies in Nigeria are based in Lagos, but agencies/jobs can be found in other major cities (Porthacourt, Calabar, Akure) and overseas.

FASHION CATALOG MODEL: Slightly less restrictive than fashion modeling in terms of requirements, but catalog modeling still has rigid standards nonetheless, and is also difficult to get into. Catalog models are the ones you see in the clothing catalogs, posing in a variety of outfits. Typically, only female models between 5’8” and 6’1” will find work here. Male models should be between 5’10” and 6’2”.

RUNWAY MODEL: Models that walk the catwalk or runway; a “live model.” Runway models are hired to use their bodies as a mechanism to display the fashion garments of a specific clothing designer. They MUST be tall (5’9” and up for females, 5’11” and up for males), slender, have measurements that fit the standard clothing size, and know how to walk the runway.

COMMERCIAL MODEL: Most agency models work in this category. Commercial models work MANY different jobs, including: print advertisements, catalogs, campaigns, television shows, magazines, trade shows, and much more. There are no height or size requirements to be a commercial model. So even if you are DYING to be a fashion model, but simply do not fit the size requirements for mainstream “fashion modeling”, you can still find work and book great jobs as a “COMMERCIAL fashion model”, doing fashion print and things of that nature. Not interested in being a commercial fashion model? No problem. This category of modeling accommodates MANY types of looks: from the girl-next-door, to middle-aged men, to those with very “unique/interesting” faces.

PRINT MODEL: Print models are used for many different types of publications, such as: magazines, print advertisements, billboards, posters, calendars, campaigns, booklets, flyers, banners. Print models must have an attractive face, good skin, a nice body, and a pretty smile. Print models can find modeling work in one of two ways: through a modeling agency, or by freelance modeling.

GLAMOUR MODEL: Glamour modeling focuses much more on the model’s appeal, beauty, and body than it does anything else. Models in this category are considered very pretty; able to book work simply by being attractive, a nice body, and having a sort of “sex appeal”. While there are no height or size requirements, glamour models DO have to be at least 18 years old. Glamour models can work as non-nude models, or as nude models.

Non-nude glamour models are typically hired to appear in swimsuit, bikini, lingerie, and form-fitting attire. Often times they will find work in magazines, music videos, calendars, etc. They can find work as a freelance model, and they can also find other work through modeling agencies as a print model, commercial model, or promo model.
Nude glamour models are almost never represented by a mainstream modeling agency, and most always they will find modeling work through their own means (internet, friends, referrals, casting calls, networking, etc.)
PROMO MODEL / PROMOTIONAL MODEL: A promotional model, also known as a promo model, is a model that is hired to represent a brand, product, or service. This category of modeling does not have a height or weight requirement; thus making it much easier to get into promo modeling than it is to get into many other types of modeling. While there are no height/weight requirements, there are other general requirements for booking paid promo work: a great attitude, outgoing nature, a nice smile, and the ability to easily adapt/learn.

SPOKESMODEL: A spokesmodel is a more lucrative form of promo modeling. These models tend to have signed contracts with a specific company; acting as the face of the brand, being paid to attend events and make special appearances, appearing in advertisements, and traveling the country.

TRADE SHOW MODEL, OR CONVENTION MODEL: Tradeshow or convention modeling is another form of promo modeling. These models are hired by a company to represent their brand, product, or service specifically at a trade show or convention. There are no height/size requirements, but these models need to be outgoing, reliable, work well with others, and take direction well. They also will be expected to work long hours, readily engage with other people, to quickly learn/accurately relay the company’s mission (or products or talking points) to consumers.

CATALOG MODEL: A catalog model has the same job description as a “fashion catalog model”, yet none of the same size requirements. General catalog models are needed in all shapes and sizes. There are tons of clothing designers in the world offering a variety of options, many of which cater to petite, plus-size, or alternative buyers. These designers need models of the same variety to pose for their catalogs. Almost any category of model can be used as a (general) “catalog model.”

PETITE MODEL: These are models that are on the shorter side- typically 5’4” and under. While they will not be able to find work as a fashion model, petite models can still find work in other categories, such as a print, commercial, glamour, or promotional modeling. Petite models can be sought after for their small hands/feet for print work as well.

FREELANCE MODEL: A freelance model is one that is self-represented: they are not signed exclusively to any one modeling agency, they do not have an agent or a manager, and they are responsible for finding their own work. In addition, they are responsible for their own marketing, promoting, networking, and branding. This might all sound overwhelming, but in this day and age, freelance models have many avenues to get a career started. The internet is their main weapon/source; if properly harnessed, freelance models can still make a name for themselves without an agency.

FITNESS MODEL: Fitness models are toned, in-shape, healthy, and have good muscle tone. There are no size/height requirements, but you MUST be in shape! There are modeling agencies with “fitness modeling” departments. Fitness models seeking representation should focus on these first, but fitness models can also be self-represented.

PARTS MODEL: These models typically model their “parts”, such as their hands, legs, feet, stomach, etc. There are modeling agencies that represent parts models, and the best way to get started in this modeling category is by finding an agent rather than attempting to freelance.

PLUS-SIZE MODEL: These models, also known as “Full figured models”, are models that do not fit the size requirements for mainstream modeling. They weigh more, have fuller figures, and have pretty faces. They can be hired as catalog models for plus-sized clothing brands, among many other job opportunities. Plus-sized models are able to achieve representation with modeling agencies that have a “Plus-Size” division.

ART MODEL:  Art models work with visual artists. The model is the subject of the intended art piece, usually being required to pose while the artist interprets and creates a piece of art. They are able to use the model as a real-life visual aid. There are many mediums an art model can be asked to participate in. Some of the more common include paintings, illustrations, sculpture, and photography.

NUDE MODEL: Nude models typically only find work in photoshoots. Occasionally they will do videos/films, but the most common medium they work with is photography. They can pose topless or fully nude. Nude models rarely have modeling agencies. There are no height or weight requirements.

PINUP MODEL: Pin-up models first gained notoriety in the 1940’s and 50’s, with the term “pin-up” referring to a physical photo of an attractive model, which could be “pinned up” on the wall. In the past, pinup models were more risqué than their current era. Today, modern pinup models (posing in the same manner and outfits of the 40’s and 50’s), seem to be less risqué than their current era, as times have changed and so have social standards. To explain: modern pinup models can be seen wearing classic 1-piece swimsuits, while modern glamour models can be seen wearing barely-there string bikinis.

ALT MODEL, or ALTERNATIVE MODEL: This genre of modeling does not conform to “typical” modeling standards. The models used in this genre are not the mainstream, cookie-cutter models. Many of them have tattoos, piercings, unusual hairstyles, etc. They can work in this industry with the help of internet websites, networking, and niche magazines.

FETISH MODEL: A fetish model will be hired to model/display various fetishes. For example, latex clothing, bondage, foot photoshoots, etc. Almost always, these models are self-represented.

ASUU UPDATE: make or break meeting...

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday engaged the leadership of the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities in a marathon meeting inside the First Lady Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was still on as at the time of filing this report (12.33am), was aimed at finding a final resolution to the strike that started on July 1.

The President was joined at the meeting that started at 2.40pm  by Vice President Namadi Sambo; Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike; and Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu among others.

ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Isa Faggae, led the union team which included past presidents such as Prof. Abdulahi Sule-Kano, Prof. Dipo Fashina and Prof. Festus Iyayi.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress,  Abdulawahid Omar and that of the Trade. Union Congress, Bobboi Kaigama, also attended.

Other members of the delegation were Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, Prof. Victor  Osodeke, Prof. Suleiman Abdul, Dr. Victor Igbum and Mr. Michael Odunmoraye.

Indication that the logjam may be resolved at the meeting emerged when the President declared while shaking hands with members of the delegation that, “The matter must be resolved here today. Our children must go back to school.”

Before the meeting with the President, the leadership of ASUU had met with the Senate President, David Mark, who expressed government commitment to the resolution of the dispute.

The Senate had in a resolution last week, mandated Mark to mediate in the crisis occasioned by the non implementation of the 2010 agreement between ASUU and Federal Government.

The union honoured Mark’s invitation on Monday when they presented their position and expressed optimism that the intervention of the Senate might bring a lasting solution to the crisis.

CULLED FROM: the PUNCH
NB: as at the time of filing this report, it was yet to be clear if the strike has been called off.

ASUU TO FG- WE WILL CALL OFF STRIKE WHEN...

The protracted ASUU strike gets thougher as the president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan pleads with ASUU heirachy to call off the almost 150 days industrial action embarked upon by the lecturers.

Speaking to an ASUU stallwart in the Ekiti State University (EKSU) yesterday (23/10/2013), he stated that the strike was not embarked upon due to the selfish interest of lecturers but they were fighting for the good of all. He appealed to all students to bear with them and support them in this plight for a better funded university education. He stated some reasons for their refusal to accept the negotiations of the federal government.

1. They claim there is no money but a minister can purchase two cars which should originally cost 75million each at a cost of 255million Nairas, that shows how insensitive they are.

2. I believe the federal Government have this money but they are hoarding it so as to save enough for their irrelevant spending for their political campaign. Elections are near, they want to have enough to spend around.

3. Some secondary schools Laboratory are far better than Laboratories in Higher institutions. The money we are asking for is to improve these facilities, its for the benefit of students, not a single dime of that is going to our pocket.

4. Most of the private universities were built by selfish government officials with National Money so they make it difficult for the masses to afford education, we want to put an end to that by installing parity between the 'so called' privately funded institutions and Public Institutions.

i also spoke to some students who believed that the ASUU are doing what is best for the public schools, by requesting for proper funding.

Another ASUU stallwart who pleaded anonimity said 'even if Government stop our pay, the strike will continue untill they respond fully to our requests'

Lecturers of The Ekiti State Universitiy (EKSU) will embark on a peaceful protest on Monday and also visit all the settlements within Ado-Ekiti to explain why they are on strike to every one in the state capital.

I will be uploading structures in various universities that are in need of upgrade or new ones. hostels, lecture theatres, laboratories, and offices.
*PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY DISTURBING PICTURE, KINDLY SEND THEM TO adebusoyeademola@gmail.com STATING THE LOCATION AND STRUCTURE.

TOP TEN NIGERIAN LYRICISTS

Talking about lyricist in this context, i mean the Nigerian artiste with the best lyrics. this is my own View and understanding, everybody can have a list, this is Adebusoye Ademola' top ten Nigerian Lyricist countdown.

My Judgement is based on the following:
A.   VOICE: if its clear enough
B.  SENSIBILITY: does the song even have a meaning?
C.   CONTINUITY: do the verses blend with the chorus?
D.    LENGHT: some verses are just too short to pick a meaning from
E.     MY PREFERENCE: this is my own love for the artiste which is the least deciding factor.

TO THE LIST: starting from the bottom of the log

10.   LULU RAPS- popular.
This relatively unknown artiste is a rapper and his just released single 'POPULAR' caught my attention. He made the top ten in the 2009 sprite tripple slam, released a couple of tracks and was off air and now he is back trying to be POPULAR, if u have not heard his song, i have the download link below.
download popular by Luluraps

9.    DARE ART ALADE- not the girl
'You're not the girl i used to know, you're a shadow of yourself'. I'm still in Love with the lyrics of that song, at the time that song was released, other artistes were busy dropping dancehall tracks, Dare decided to go the other way to release a very sensible r'n'b/blues.

8.    DAVIDO-ekuro
In my own point of view, this is the most meaningful song Davido has released so far. Talking about love. Omo Baba Olowo has his way of doing things, some people say he is proud and offensive, that is yet to be seen because i have not met with him yet. When i do, u will be the first to know.

7.    FELA-
Unfortunately dead over ten years now, his music still lingers in my head especially the 'international thief thief'. i believe this should be the song we dedicate to our leaders who cart our money away to buy bullet proof BMW cars (i no mention name o). But FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI i believe would have written a track for the latest gist in Nigerian politics instead of singing about girls and sex!

6.    MALEKE- no meaning
Very funny song but yet very realistic, this song points to the fact that most Nigerian artistes sing things that dont even have a meaning, i'm very sure maleke himself is a member of the 'no meaning' singers association. well, he asked us to watch out for part two of the song, its now a 'SEASONAL SONG' LMAO!

5.   PATORANKING- alubarika
A somewhat prayerful song which featured Timaya. Is now the trending song which most hustlers sing in the morning. 'Alubarika, alubarika, from Lagos down to America... your blessings is all i seek' thats also my prayer oh Lord.

4.    WIZKID- Holla at your boy
This track undoubtedly was the turning point in Ayo Balogun's life. To me, this is his best track, i just love the song. He has also released very good tracks, but to me, HOLLA AT YOUR BOY is the pick of them all.

3.      POSLY TD- Notorious
PosltTD is a new rap artiste, dropping his single NOTORIOUS earlier this month. With his manager MIMI smiling to the bank with fat cheques (i'm so sure of that). PoslyTD is a very promising young lad with sleek flows. His track is here for download if you have not heard it.

download Notorious

Like drake we sarted from the bottom, now we are here!

2.      OLAMIDE- boys are not smiling
You should know by now that i like tracks that speak directly to the government. I would have named CONFESSION AYE, BADDEST GUY EVER LIVETH, DURO SOKE amongst others but i love this track. Olamide is widely known as the VOICE OF THE STREET because of his slangs.

1.          2FACE IDIBIA- something on my mind
'somehing in my mind, wanna talk about it, feeling deep inside, cant supress it, this must be love, i'm not searching no more, i found the one for me, you are my destiny'
You can easily pick out the words he sings and u will see that he is very sleek, and his tracks have consistency and continuity. 2face is the R'kelly of Nigerian music industry, he never repeats his soundtracks, his tracks are completely independent of the other. And i love his songs!

you can create a list of your own if you disagree with mine. Thanks for reading, till we meet again next time, same site remain safe.

Rip comm. (barr.) deji falae, it was really good meeting you in this lifetym, although you were in the system bt not of the system, the entire 'rainbow crew' commiserate with the Falae's on this great loss.

Tribute to barrister Deji Falae; you were such an enigma of a great thinker who never settled for less, a man of quality and good heart, you were inspiring and open, you advised us in a way that you showed total support for our quest for success, you proved the world wrong about you been an opportunist, you fought through life and you conquered, you were a good son, a diligent civil servant and most of all a wonderful father and husband, i remember seeing you on stage during 'mare festival' last year and you taken extra caution in little stuffs like our wrong pronunciation of 'mare'(in idanre dialect). This shows how enormous your heart is, even at how big and busy tasks were, you still pay attention to little things around you, you loss would definitely be painful to some, unbelievable to some, unreasonable to some and unacceptable to some, you'll forever remain in the memories of those you've touched and the rainbow models crew would definately miss you cos you showed us love every time we come by, we at ranbow models extend our condolence to every member of the falae family.

TOP SIX YOUNG MUSIC STARS

Today, the young artistes are giving the. older and established stars a run for their money. These new-wave superstars now rub shoulders with the same artistes
whom they once looked up to or chose as role models.

Apart from competing with the ‘old guards’ in terms of income and expenditure, they are often nominated
for major music awards in similar categories.

Multinationals and telecommunications outfits, as well as other major events sponsors, have realised that the younger generation of music artistes represent the future of entertainment in Nigeria.

With a good number of them aged between 20 and 25 years and a few others barely clocking 30, the sky seems
to be the limit.
Many of the emerging stars are not just
rich; they flaunt their wealth at every
given opportunity. It seems that the
rewards for their modest efforts at
making many Nigerians happy are
without limit and they always come in
the form of luxury mansions, sold-out
concerts, huge fan base, state-of-the-art
cars, bestselling albums, multi-million
naira endorsement deals, chattered
flights, big budget videos, custom-made
outfits, ‘bling bling’ and generous airplay
on terrestrial TV stations.
Usually dressed in sagging pairs of
trousers with expensive jewellery around
their necks, many of them charge as
much as N1.5m to mime to their songs
for only 10 minutes at wedding parties or
concerts. Many of them had to drop out
of school to pursue a career in music.
E-Punch presents six young music stars
that have taken the music scene by
storm.

Wizkid
At 23, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a
Wizkid, leads the pack. A string of
endorsement deals, including one from
MTN, has placed him on the list of big
earning music artistes in Nigeria. At
present, he is the highest paid Pepsi
Ambassador in Africa and he lives in a
N140m choice home in Lekki, Lagos.
Wizkid’s personal cars include a
N14.6million Porsche Panamera, Rolls
Royce, N10m BMW X6, N6million blue
Volkswagen convertible and a Hyndai
Sonata.
The talented singer, songwriter and
performer has emerged one of Nigeria’s
hottest music acts, seven years after he
broke into the Nigerian music scene. The
last child in a family of six, Wizkid began
to sing at the age of 11. Like new wine,
his performance matured with age. His
talent has taken him to different parts of
the world and seen him perform
alongside world class artistes, such as
Chris Brown, Akon, and Young Jeezy, and
Kardinal Official.
The young man’s fortunes improved in
2012, a few months after he released his
Superstar album. As expected, his rating
soared in the same year and he was
named the second most influential
Nigerian artiste on Twitter, an enviable
position which clearly reflected his
growing popularity.
Wizkid’s position on the African music
chart was further justified after he made
it to the Channel O/Forbes List of
Bankable African Artistes. Mentioned
alongside big weights like Don Jazzy,
Psquare, D’banj, he was placed ahead of
Tuface Idibia, on the list. Early in the
year, he threw a free appreciation party
for his fans at the New African Shrine. He
has the BET, MTV, Channel O, Ghana
Music Awards to his credit.

Olamide
Olamide Adedeji, aka Badoo, has
succeeded in filling the vacuum created
by the death of rap sensation, Dagrin.
The alternative rapper, who has
redefined the word Razz as the new cool,
has been dubbed the ‘king of the streets.
He recently signed a multimillion naira
endorsement deal with the makers of
Ciroc Ultra Premium vodka.
For the self acclaimed ‘Voice of the
Street’, who grew up in the Bariga area of
Lagos, fame did not come cheap. He fell
in love with rap music at a tender age
and was always visiting renowned
producer ID Cabasa’s music studio in his
school uniform.
Today, Olamide hobnobs with some of
the industry big names, especially D’banj.
Pictures of both artistes surfaced online
and their close relationship gave room to
speculation that he had been signed on to
the seld-styled Koko Master’s record
label.
The rapper’s hit songs comprise Jale,
Street Love, Jesu O kola, Durosoke,
Stupid Love, First of All and Ilefo
Illuminati. His forthcoming album titled
‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’ will be
released in October.
Today, the 24-year-old star acquired a
brand new 2013 Range Rover Sport. He
also topped the winners list at the 2013
Nigerian Entertainments Awards in New
York, US, with three awards.

Ice Prince
Twenty-six-year-old Ice Prince lives like a
true superstar. A proud owner of a 2010
model of Bentley GT, a Range Rover SUV,
among many others, the Chocolate City
Records ‘golden boy’ is also a BET Awards
winner. Since his first single ‘Oleku’ was
released, he has witnessed a meteoric
rise to the top.
He gained international recognition after
beating 2face Idibia to the Best
International Act Award at the BET
Awards. He recently relocated from his
apartment in Palm Groove Estate, Lagos
to a bigger apartment in the Ogudu area,
after completing a mansion in his
hometown, Jos. The buzz around him got
louder after he appeared in Yvonne
Nelson’s ‘House of Gold’ alongside
Ghanaian actor, Majid Michael.

Dammy Krane
At 19, this 2face Idibia protégé is the
youngest of the pack. He hit the limelight
after signing on 2face’s Hypertek Records
in 2012. He started singing when he was
eight years-old in the toddlers’ choir in
church. By the time he clocked 11, he
was already a back-up singer for other
artistes. His mum, who is currently based
in the US, manages a number of Fuji
artistes.
Long before he put out an official single,
music video, or inked a record deal, he
had over 4,000 followers on twitter. With
his hit singles, My Dear and Ligali, the
artiste known for his melodic voice,
engaging lyrics and exciting genre of
alternative music has collaborated with
the biggest names in the industry.

Burna Boy
Burna Boy made newspaper headlines
after reports emerged that he sold the
marketing rights to his debut album,
‘Leaving an impact for eternity’ for N10m
to popular Alaba music and movie
marketer, Uba Pacific.
The album is also said to have made a
record sale of 40,000 units on the day of

BLACKBERRY MESSANGER FOR ANDROID NOT YET OUT!!!- fake BBM apps on google play fools over 1 million

The BlackBerry Messenger app that was supposed to go online at the Google Play store on September 21, 4:30 pm is not yet available for download. Instead, those who are browsing the app store are ending up downloading fake BBM apps.

Users are also falling for the 'download BBM' option appearing on the www.bbm.com. From the webpage, a link can be sent to the email ID configured on the smartphone. But the email with the subject 'BlackBerry Messenger download link' stated, click the link below from your BlackBerry smartphone to download BBM.

The official BlackBerry Messenger Twitter account (@BBM) tweeted, first tweeted "Love the enthusiasm. Still on the way - hold tight! #BBM4ALL".

Although, on google play earlier today we had applications that looked like bbm, these applications force downloaders to rate it five stars and forced some others to download unwanted games, I downloaded a few myself and saw that it didn't work instead, it gave me unwanted adds. These apps were built by other corporations.

I checked again by 9:30pm, but all these earlier applications have been removed by google play. Let's hang in there, the real application is on its way, but BBM for i-phones are available for download in the apple store.
When the app will be available, be sure you don't fall for fake apps and only download the one issued by BlackBerry Limited. The ones available by the name BBM by BlackBerry Inc. are also fake.

ASUU STRIKE IS POLITICALLY INFLUENCED! -

I thought the worst have come to an end after the six month strike embaked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities in 2004. until it happened again and again in the following years.
2013 gave hope to so many final year students as this was supposed to be their graduation year, only to see their hopes dashed by the face off between the federal Government led by Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the Academic Staff Union of Universities yet again.

This industrial action is what? eleven weeks old and nothing is being done to re-ignite the hopes of the graduating students whose years in the university has been increased by a year due to no fault of theirs but the ASUU and FG, but seriously, i dont even know who to blame? Should i blame the FG, they will say they are working for the best interest of the Nation at large... Should i blame ASUU they'l claim to be fighting for the rights of Nigerian students and the deteriorating standard of education in Nigeria. My question is this, are the ASUU just identifying the fact that education standard in Nigeria has fallen? If yes, this fall in standard didnt happen overnight, so why try to build it overnight? I'm not being insensitive to the fallen standard, i only made a statement of fact.

This strike UNFORTUNATELY co-incides with the time some political parties were clamouring for a change, now, should i call that a coincidence? This brings me to the main reason of writing this little piece.

IS ASUU STRIKE POLITICALLY INCLINED?
I am unsure about this  but I think it is a possibility and i hope its not. I have my reasons for saying this, my thesis statements are as follows:
1. If the tenure of this present government is termed as a failure in academic fronts, its a plus for the opposition parties that will be used as campaign to win over Nigerian students.

2. The house of assembly or Senate may be forced to place a vote of NO CONFIDNCE in the president which if not well handles can lead to impeachment.

3. The ruling party is in crisis, this is a good distraction for the President

4. The FG claimed at a point during the negotiation process that the ASUU has been infiltrated by the opposition party, could this be true?

These amongst others are my reasons for propounding this STATEMENT, it may be true, it may be false, this is yet to be seen.

this is my own point of view and i just exercized my freedom of speech rights.

WE DIDN'T HAVE SEX- Angelo talks about his much publicized BBA sex scandal with Beverly Osu

Although I'm not a fan of BBA but I think I have to Blog this... ANGELO, the south African housemate in the just concluded BBA THE CHASE has spoken about his much publicised sex scandal in the bath tub with Beverly osu saying he would like to come to Nigeria and 'eat a lot of pepper' in his words he said:

South African housemate – Angelo has denied his widely
publicized “girlfriend” – Candice, saying: “I didn’t have a
girlfriend before I got into the house, but I had someone I told to wait for me so that we would see what would happen when I get out of the house. I will be focused on what I want to do as a person and then focus on my relationship with Bev and see where we will take it to,

Angelo was also asked why he had s*x with Beverly openly in the bath, and this is what he had to say:

“We didn’t have s*x. We talked about it. There were some things I said I wasn’t going to do in the house. I respect my mum so much. Before I got into the house, there were things I told my mummy I wasn’t going to do. I wasn’t b*tt unclad. It looked as if we were having s*x in that bathtub [but] we were just kissing. I couldn’t take advantage of Beverly because I respect her so much.”
Angelo also said he intends to take his relationship with
Beverly to the next level once she is done with BBA.
We will try and work things out and see how we can make our relationship work. At the same time, I hope the people of Nigeria don’t hate Bev. I would love to come to Nigeria and experience Nigerian culture and take lots of pepper,” Angelo added.

I will be among the many Nigerians waiting to see if this leads to the alter or maybe we will have another story like that of Tonto Dikeh and Iyanya... (just saying).

In anyways, I wish Angelo and Beverly the best in their relationship.

ASUU UPDATE: Federal Government Orders ASUU Back To Lecture Rooms

Despite the resolve on Thursday by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to continue the on-going strike until all agreements signed in 2009are reached, the federal government, on Friday, ordered that lecturers should go back to classrooms after it had disbursed the sum of N30 billion for earned academic allowances.

The directive which was given by the secretary to the government of the federation, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim, during a meeting between the federal government and the vice-chancellors of the 61 public universities, stated that "Government, hereby, urges every staff of the nation's universities to return to work as all issues are being resolved."

He said with particular reference to the contentious issue of earnedallowances, every staff of the universities that is so entitled should verify his claim with the university council and accordingly get paid as "from the foregoing, it is obvious that government has demonstrated sufficient commitment to the implementation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement.

"After series of discussions, government has now provided N30 billion to support the university councils in settling the earned allowances. The amount will be disbursed to the various university councils which are in the position to know who is entitled to how much afterverification."

He revealed that"Traditionally, universities pay this to deserving staff but because of the amount which ASUU now claims as arrears, government has decided to assist the university councils to pay" as government did not receive any computation of amount involved until February, 2013.

"By this computation, ASUUis claiming N92 billion as arrears for three year's payment based on percentage rage of between 15 and 20 per cent of personnel cost."

While there was consensus that revitalising the tertiary institutions is of critical importance to the nation, Anyim noted that"when put together, the amount of funds from the budgetary and non-budgetary sources that goes into the sector is quite huge but without corresponding impact.

While acknowledging the contributions of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, Senior Association ofNigerian Universities, SSANU, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, and other stakeholders, Anyim reiterated the government's resolve 'to bringing the students back to school and appreciated the patience of parents andstudents as government is making every effort to revitalise the university system."

It would be recalled that on July 2, 2013, ASUU declared what it called"total and indefinite strike" over issues it says has remained unresolved pertaining to an agreement it reached with government in 2009.

WTF!!!! IS LINDA IKEJI A GHOST?

Sometimes I wonder why its so difficult for celebrities to keep their lives private. Most of these celebrities post pictures of themselves majorly on instagram nowadays, some even go ahead to post pictures of themselves in bikini and all that. I'm not against all that, but it just baffles me. Why do they do all these? Is it for competition or is it for oppression of the "lesser-celebs"? I'm waiting or someone else to post a picture of himself proposing to his fiancee with a brand new aeroplane, ring and flower to beat the previous record set by Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo (just saying), but really, I'm sure someone else will do almost the same if not the same then surpass this feat. (Scoffs) Linda Ikeji has succeeded in Keeping her life private, though she is one of the people in Nigeria who made her fame through 'OFOFO' no one has been able to leak a secret about her... that shows she is the best in the game. She is a role model to me (still looking forward to meet her in person) and i am very happy that she has covered her tracks well. One Question I will like to ask her is "LINDA, HOW DO YOU COVER YOUR TRACKS?". The inability o some of Lindas's fans to dig up something about her made him post this on one of Linda's Gossip Story on Lindaikeji.blogspot.com. the story about Kaffy being eight (8) years older than her spouse "TobiNigeria Well Linda, So, what if he's 25. Even though I am a die hard fan of you, it bogs me that while you dig up others for a living, your life seems sparse. Nothing is happening to you. Who are you dating. You are not sharing your bikini photos, you are not sharing any interesting photos other than you @ this event or the other. You do not take new PR photos. YOU ARE A "GHOST" LINDA! WhY?????????????????????????????????" August 22, 2013 at 10:51 PM so many Other people ask questions like: who is Linda dating, where does she have fun, does she swim? WHO IS LINDA is the question most people ask when they read her posts, she seems to be invincible. I'm so sure she is planning a suprise package... LINDA WEDS! and all Nigerians will be taken aback. I remember Linda posted on her twitter account when she got to New York, the pictures of her room (1) and the view of the city from her room saying "I will be back to blogging soon" i guess she's back with a cracker "kaffy's spouse is 25 years". I'm still wondering why he posted that picture on instagram, he could have easily snapped his luggage at the airport and post it with the comment 'Off to New York' SIMPLE.

You Can Port To Private School Now

You can now port to private school if you are a student of any public institution with the same matric number, CGPA and level.

This is the joke in the mouths of Nigerian students in public institutions. This is because of the ongoing ASUU strike which has been on for forty two days (42) now. Students are pleading with federal government and ASUU to reach a conclusion and call off the strike.
Some students who were interviewed even joked about having forgetting his Matriculation Number. Although they are laughing about the issue, they claim its not as funny as it seems to be.
Some interviewed students said the federal government is wasting their time, some claimed they should have been moving close to their final papers or even to have graduated.

Funny enough, someone released a joke in form of the popular MTN and SAKA's "i don port" advert to mark 40 days of he strike. Some of the words in the joke song include:
"i don port o, i don port go private school..." and ended the joke with "Federal Government... Making education impossible for the masses"
When i listened to this i burst out in uncontrolable laughter, but, its a serious matter that the federal government should take a closer look at so as to resolve the fracas amicably.
we will give you the download link for the song in two days time

BBA is a show of shame! 'WE ARE BLACK NOT BLANK!'- DG rainbow models

The last time someone called me 'Big Brother' i felt challenged to be of good example to the young lad. I feel 'big brother' means someone you look up to, someone more of a mentor.
BBA (Big Brother Africa) should be renamed to SSA(Shame Show Africa), I am yet to understand the importance of that reality show, some people say it is to show viewers (who are majorly youths) the behaviours of people from different parts of Africa, I call that 'bullshit'! Anyone can go there and pretend for just 91 days. What are we looking up to in the 'brothers' (housemates) in BBA? Is it the immoral acts of drunkeness, indiscriminate sex and wasting of 'useful' resources by the organizers? And you expect our youths to watch this?
I am so dissapointed in the organizers and even sponsors for not being 'realistic', we are in Africa, the famous black continent the fact that we are black doesn't make us blank. Just take a look at the Gulder Ultimate search, it is interesting, suspence filled and the contestants have a task which is to find a hidden treasure, thats more of an adventure, the housemates in BBA dont have any task to complete!
This is Africa, we pride in covering our body, we have a rich culture, we are people of intellect, we are a chosen generation, we are BLACK NOT BLANK, we are AFRICANS!
I repeat, BBA is a waste of 'USEFUL' resources, do you know the number of schools that can be renovated with these funds, the number of libraries and laboratories that could be equiped, have you thought about the number of lives that could be saved by improving health care? Have you thought about the number of bore holes that could be dug in local communities to supply consumable water? Have you thought about the long list of things that these funds could do in communities? Why not pick a community each year and improve their standard of living rather than continuing in this show of shame?
Some people will hate me for this and begin to tweet and update facebook status saying I have not spoken well, I am counting on you people out there who believe we are BLACK NOT BLANK to support my quest.
I even searched GOOGLE who seems to know it all for 'the objectives of Big Brother Africa' guess what, GOOGLE was not able to provide a clear cut or even near-satisfactory answer... you can also try it. I will not give up on Africa, I will not give up on Nigeria... we will have a better place to live in, in the nearest future.
I am Adebusoye Ademola Adegoke, the director general of Rainbow Models Nigeria and I am saying #NoToBBA!

CHILD NOT BRIDE... BRIDE NO CHILD

Ever heard of the word little-bride? I used to think it the beautiful little girl that's made to dress like the bride on a wedding day, but Senator Yerima and his other 34 cohorts has 'enlightened' me better, that there's actually a literal meaning to the word!
How else can the legalisation of child marriage be explained? Does this law now mean that a little girl of 5, can be given out in marriage? Is this what we elected our law-makers to do at the National Assembly? Why don't we have citizens below the age of 18 vote in elections in Nigeria? Because it's felt that below that a child below that age is not matured enough to make rational decisions? So how did it suddenly become reasonable for a girl child below that matured age bracket to make a decision on who to marry? I need somebody to wake me up from this dream.
If we don't stop this obnoxious law, if we don't Generations after us would not forgive us, little girls that would be raped, abused and molested all in the name of child-marriage would not forgive us.
We all, beyond our religious, political and social prejudice need to SAY NO to child-marriage in Nigeria.
It is evil, it is criminal!!!

Adeleke Adeoluwa. #childnotbride

ADD ON,
It will be noted that Nigerians from all works of life have taken to various ways of showing their disgust over this law, most people taking to social media most especially Facebook, Twitter and BBM. We bring to you some of the common quotes with the hashtag #childnotbride:

'Give her a PEN not a PENIS, ask for her books not her BOOBS, pay her school fees, not her bride price, give her EDUCATION not EJACULATION'

Omotola Jalaade Ekehinde, popular Nigerian actress has also spoken against child abuse at the just concluded MBGN 2013.

Let's wait patiently and hope as Nigerians across the globe begin to pour out their minds. Don't forget to put the hashtag #childnotbride when you comment on the issue at hand.

SHOCKING: NASA FINDS MESSAGE FROM GOD ON MARS!

NASA announced today that its Curiosity Rover has found
an unambiguous message from God written on tablets in
a Martian cave.
According to an official press release two giant stone
slabs the size of small elephants were located deep inside
a cavern abutting Aeolis Mons, a large mountain.
Upon one tablet is a copy of the Ten Commandments and
the text of John 3:16 written in 12 languages - including
English, Spanish, Chinese, Basque and Hebrew. On the
other tablet is a simple message in English reading "I am
real."
According to top scientists who have studied the
discovery extensively, these findings may have definitively
established Christianity as the one true religion.
"This is amazing," says Syms Covington, an Australian
researcher working for NASA's Mars Exploration Program.
"We went into the cave looking for water, and we found
proof of God's existence instead.
"I mean how else did those tablets get there? I can tell you
one thing: there's not a single atheist inside NASA's
control room now. What we saw was jaw-dropping."
Genesis 1:1
NASA's Curiosity rover arrived on Mars in August of last
year with a mission to explore the Martian climate and
geology for signs for habitability.
Thus far the mission has been a success, with the
discovery of an ancient seabed and chemicals needed for
life suggesting that Mars was once suitable for life.
However the tablets, both of which are signed "Peace and
Love - Yahweh," represent the rover's most significant
find to date, and is perhaps the most important scientific
event in history.
"When people find out about this, they will demand
change in our society," explains a political scientist at
Georgetown University. "Democracy will have to give way
to theocracy. We're gonna have to build more churches
and reintroduce prayer into schools. Abortion is defiantly
going to be illegal within a few months."
Despite its potential significance, Covington fears that the
Earth-shattering discovery may not make the impact it
should.
"Unfortunately, the mainstream media is so anti-
Christian, they might not even pick up this story," he
explains. "But God is real. We have proof. And everyone
deserves to hear the truth."
