Sermon: 9 lessons of Christmas part 2 @gharvestadoekit

Title: THE NINE (9) LESSONS OF CHRISTMAS II
Text: Luke 1.26-38; 2.8-20
Speaker: Pastor Dotun Oyawoye
Date: Sunday 21st Dec 2014

Lesson 1: Purpose: You were shaped in the particular way you are to achieve a set purpose.

Lesson 2: Prophecy: None of God’s prophecies fell to the ground. Whatever God has said, He has accomplished it already.

Lesson 3: Process: There is a process to the fulfillment of God’s prophecy. Five (5) things in every process: Sacrifice, Pain, Learning experience, Destiny helpers (You cannot afford to be a lone-ranger), Specific locations (God is interested in our position. Your purpose is location specific).

Lesson 4: Precision: God is so precise; He meets His target per time.

Lesson 5: Grace: Grace means “Highly favoured”. Mary had done nothing to qualify giving birth to Christ. God chose her, and that is what grace does for a person. Grace means to get something that you do not deserve; to receive Heaven’s help in your weakness. It also means “God’s Riches at Christ’ Expense.”

Lessons of Grace:
-Grace is the power of Christ. 2 Corinthians 12.8-9
-The Word of God is the source of grace. John 1.14
-There will always be occasions in your life when there will be need for grace. That you have come this far as an individual is because of the grace of God. Hebrews 4.16
-Grace is available if only you will come for it. Hebrews 4.16

Lesson 6: Faith: Hebrews 11.1. The Angel had to inspire faith in the heart of Mary. First through sharing the testimony of Elizabeth. Testimonies strengthen our faith. Secondly faith comes through the word of God. Whatever you have not seen in your life, look for it in the word.

Lesson 7: Joy: The birth of Jesus brought joy on every side. Joy is not the absence of pain, but the realization that you have overcome before the challenges came, and the determination to be in high spirit despite it all.

Joy brings strength Nehemiah 8.10; Philippians 4.4. Depression is the biggest tool in the hand of the devil to get men to lose faith. If the devil can take away your smile, he can take away your shine.

How to walk in Joy:
-Always believe in God’s ability
-Learn to take God’s word as it is.
-Understand that the joy in Heaven is the greatest joy anyone can ever get.
